National Museum of the Royal Navy
We’ve been working with The National Museum of the Royal Navy for several years, creating bespoke wooden gifts for their shop, each incorporating authentic pieces of HMS Victory, taken during restoration work. In the past, we’ve crafted many gifts such as chopping boards and bookends, but this time, we took on storage boxes and bookmarks.
🔹 Storage Boxes – We laser-cut wood from HMS Victory into the shape of the ship’s stern and inlaid original copper from the vessel. These copper elements were originally keyrings, but we repurposed them into a new design.
🔹 Bookmarks – Made from oak veneer and plywood, these were glued and vacuum-pressed, then laser-cut and engraved. We also used the laser to create an inlay space for a piece of HMS Victory wood, ensuring a seamless and meaningful design. After sanding and oiling, the bookmarks were smooth, durable, and ready to be cherished.
We laminated Wilbalin natural black 320gsm paper, hot foiled with the HMS Victory logo and topped with spot UV for a raised, luxury finish. These were then cut, creased, and assembled for a premium presentation.
As you can tell, a lot of work and craftsmanship goes into these products, but the final result makes it all worthwhile. It’s an honour to create pieces that carry a piece of history while being beautifully crafted for the present.
